Our First Stop at Durian Cendol @ Durian Runtuh, Cendol is one of Malaysia's best sweet treats. It is commonly sold at roadside stalls or restaurants. Durian Runtuh off Jalan Raja Bot is among the best spots in KL to eat cendol durian. Nothing gets better than a bowl of cendol to beat the hot weather in Malaysia. For RM13, you will get a huge bowl of cendol with durian. We were served durian kampung, the most common durians in the market which planted in a village. It's best savoured on its own but you can opt to add sweet corn, glutinous rice or both to your dish for a little extra flavour! All this in a spoonful makes for an amazingly satisfying treat.
Our Second Stop is at Nasi Lemak Wanjo Kg Baru, this humble eatery is famous among locals during breakfast and supper as they operate from early morning until late night. The restaurant has been operating for 56 years as they started as a regular roadside stall. Grab a plate of nasi lemak with the usual accompanying sliced cucumbers, deep-fried ikan bilis (anchovies), fried groundnuts, and then go on to add other dishes.
Boy Satay berapi kaw stall beside Nasi Lemak Wanjo Kg Baru, You will be bowled over by the tender meat lean and so flavourful. And the thick peanut dipping sauce with just the right balance of spiciness and sweetness. The secret of the delicious satay at this restaurant is that the meat is marinated so well that it simply bursts with flavours.
Our last Stop is at Kak Som, There are the places which prepare meals that feed the nostalgic...the people craving a taste of home searching for a specific dish. Kak som feeds the Kelantanese soul and is the spot to go to for some authentic bites.
Specialising in east coast Peninsular Malaysian dishes such as nasi kerabu (blue rice), The nasi kerabu rice is cooked with bunga telang and is topped with ulam, sambal and budu. Other than nasi kerabu, there is laksam, nasi dagang and northern style Kelantanese laksa. There is also the usual lauk style where customers can pile on whatever dishes they want on a plate of rice.
